Joy Low

She/They/He

Psychologist

Joy supports people on the unceded lands of the Woiwurrung, Wurrundjeri and Bunurong people.

Joy (she/they/he) is a psychologist of Singaporean-Chinese background (Singaporean by nationality and Chinese by ethnicity). Joy identifies as genderfluid and draws from their lived experience and culture in their work, emphasising anti colonial care. They strive to create a safe and collaborative space where participants of all ages can feel comfortable to be authentically themselves.

Joy works through an intersectional lens from an understanding and perspective based on their positionality, with trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, culturally-safe, and gender-affirmative care as a priority. Their practice is grounded in a person-centred approach, incorporating elements of existential and Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT). They are also informed by body-based psychosomatic therapies in their trauma-informed care.

Joy is community-orientated with particular interest in working with those who are made marginalised. They welcome supporting those experiencing or working through trauma, migration and/or displacement (including cultural), decolonisation, grief and loss, life transitions and adjustment, depression and anxiety, relationship and interpersonal difficulties, neuro-affirmative, and gender-affirming work. She is also conversational in Mandarin.
Joy values connecting with and facilitating participants in exploring their values and finding meaning in their experiences to live in their most fulfilling way.
