Student Counsellor

Sharv supports people on the unceded lands of the Woiwurrung, Wurrundjeri and Bunurong people.

Sharv (they/them) is a postgraduate counselling student with international experience across counselling, education, and social justice advocacy in Singapore, Canada, Sri Lanka, and Australia. Their work is grounded in commitments to intersectionality, anti-oppressive practice, and culturally responsive care.

With particular interests in sex and intimacy, race-based traumatic stress, and queer-affirming care, Sharv’s therapeutic approach is humanistic and person-centred, integrating Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

Grounded in lived and living experience, Sharv brings relational, cultural, and practice-based knowledge to support a wide range of clients and presentations. They have a particular passion for supporting:

  • LGBTQIASB+ individuals and couples

  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities

  • Immigrants and international students

  • Migration-related stress and anxiety

  • Identity exploration and self-esteem concerns

  • Intergenerational trauma

  • Gender and sexuality exploration

  • Relationship difficulties (including attachment insecurity and loneliness)

  • Experiences of discrimination and racism

  • Minority stress

  • Body image concerns

  • Career uncertainty and imposter syndrome

In addition to counselling, Sharv is a Consent and Safe Relationships Educator who facilitates workshops across schools and universities in Victoria on topics including sexual violence prevention, respectful relationships, alcohol and other drugs (AOD), and positive masculinities.

Sharv holds a Bachelor of Arts in Guidance and Counselling and a Master of Arts in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. They are currently completing a Master of Counselling in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia.
